...Furthermore, with the development of recursion theory, which owes its contribution to Kleene, it became possible to redeploy descriptive set theory as a unified theory including traditional descriptive set theory, and together with the development of axiomatic set theory, some of the problems that remained unsolved in the 1930s, such as the cardinality problem of descriptive sets and the problem of Lebesgue measurability, were solved, leading to the flourishing of descriptive set theory. On the other hand, the formalization of intuitionistic logic by A. Heyting (1930) and his interpretation of Gödel made the logic used in the intuitionistic standpoint clear, but since Kleene's attempt to rationalize intuitionistic mathematics using inductive functions, research from the intuitionistic standpoint has been actively conducted along with research on constructive mathematics. Model theory, which has been actively studied by the schools of thought centered around A. Tarski and A. Robinson, is not only developing as an important field in mathematical logic today, but also plays an effective role in various fields of mathematical foundations, including axiomatic set theory.
