Kusatsu Ferry - I am Kusatsu

...It is located in the northwest of the confluence of the Gojo River and the Shonai River. Under the ancient Ritsuryo system, there was a Kusatsu ferry connecting Matsunouma-ya (now Tsushima City) and Niimizo-ya (now Nagoya City) on the Tokaido road, which entered Owari from Ise. In the Kamakura period, Kayazu-juku flourished as a relay point between Kuroda-juku (now Kisogawa-cho, Haguri-gun, Aichi Prefecture) and Atsuta (Atsuta Ward, Nagoya City) on the Kamakura-kaido road, which entered Owari from Mino-Sunomata (now Sunomata-cho, Anpachi-gun, Gifu Prefecture), and as a strategic point where the road from Ise through Tsushima and the Kamakura-kaido road met.
