Ras Asir (Cape) (English spelling)
The cape at the northeastern tip of the African continent (latitude 11°50′ north, longitude 51°16′ east). It is also called Cape Guardafui, and its ancient name was Cape Aromata. It belongs to Somalia. There is a lighthouse at the tip of the cape, which separates the Indian Ocean from the Gulf of Aden. The eastern tip of the African continent is Cape Ras Hafun (latitude 10°29′ north, longitude 51°20′ east), located about 160 km south. [Editorial]
