…the treaty between Holy Roman Emperor Henry V and Pope Callistus II (r. 1119-1124) in 1122 to end the German Investiture Controversy. It consisted of an imperial charter and a papal charter, and was based theoretically on the conceptual separation of ecclesiastical (pastoral) and secular (secular control over ecclesiastical lands) established by Ivo of Chartres (c. 1040-1116).
