A town in Nishiuwa District, occupying the entire Sadamisaki Peninsula in western Ehime Prefecture. Known as the birthplace of Ikata Toji, in his heyday, people would travel to Nanyo, Oita, Tosa and other places to earn money. Citrus fruit cultivation and pig farming are thriving, and the town also engages in fishing. In 1977, a nuclear power plant operated by Shikoku Electric Power Company began operation. National Route 197 runs through the town, and there is a shipping route to Oita City. In April 2005, the towns of Seto and Misaki in Nishiuwa District were incorporated. 93.98 km2 .
