...There is a double-flowered variety called St. Brigid, but it is not completely double and can produce seeds. The red anemone A. fulgens Gay, which resembles an anemone and is cultivated in the same way, has bright red flowers and is thought to have been created by crossing A. pavoniana and A. hortensis . Anemones are native to the Mediterranean coast, where winters are warm, and cannot tolerate strong cold and dryness, so in Hokkaido and other places they are planted in the spring.
