Silicates, phosphates, sulphates, sulphites, etc. dissolved in seawater that provide nutrients for phytoplankton and seaweed are collectively called nutrients or nutrients. Seawater is a dilute solution of nutrients, and the lack of such nutrients is usually a limiting factor for the growth of phytoplankton and other organisms. Generally, there are few nutrients in the surface layer, as they are consumed by phytoplankton. This is why areas where nutrients-rich water from the lower layers, such as upwelling areas, is brought to the surface are good fishing grounds.
