...The following are some of these bulbous species cultivated in Japan. The hibiscus wood sorrel, O. variabilis Jacq., is native to the Cape of South Africa and produces large pink, white, and wisteria-colored flowers in autumn and winter. The wood sorrel, O. bowieana Lodd., is also native to the Cape and produces large, deep pink flowers with round petals in autumn.
