"Z"trash - "Ztrash

In fact, Hammer Productions began to find a way to survive in the late 1950s with horror films such as Dracula and Frankenstein. There were countless other works that were neither horror nor nonsense, including a rare piece such as The Woman Who Was a Bombshell (1956) directed by Roger Corman (1926-), in which a gangster and a stripper are among the few survivors of a nuclear explosion that destroys civilization (this setting is also common in low-budget science fiction and is still made today), who are then attacked by a three-eyed cannibalistic mutant. This led to the name "Z" movies or "Z" trash (not B-grade movies, but "Z" movies, the worst kind of trash). In the midst of this rush of science fiction ranging from the best to the worst, Hollywood's prestigious MGM first tried its hand at science fiction, producing Forbidden Planet (1956), a major space adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest, directed by F. M. Wilcox (1905-64).
