(Germany) Geschichte und Beschreibung von Japan : A book based on the posthumous manuscript of the German doctor Kaempfer, who came to Japan in the early Edo period and stayed there for two years. In 1727, an English translation was published in London prior to the original German version. The French translation became the source for the Japan-related entries in the Encyclopedia compiled by Diderot. The German version was published between 1777 and 1779 based on a draft discovered by Kaempfer's nephew. →Japan Today

《〈ドイツ〉Geschichte und Beschreibung von Japan》江戸時代初期に来日、2年間日本に滞在したドイツ人医師ケンペルの遺稿に基づく書物。1727年、ドイツ語による原著より先に、英訳版がロンドンで出版された。仏訳版は、ディドロ編纂による「百科全書」の日本関連項目の典拠となった。ドイツ語版は、ケンペルの甥が発見した草稿をもとに1777年から1779年にかけて刊行。→今日の日本
