...The vines of the Banisteriopsis caapi and B. inebrians , both of which are vines of the family Canthariaceae, and the decoction made from them, are called ayahuasca (vine of the soul) in Peruvian Quechua. However, in Peruvian Pano it is called rami, in Brazil caapi, and in Colombia yagé. The decoction is not usually used alone, but is often mixed with the leaves of the Psychotoria genus of the family Rubiaceae.
