The correct name is Sepher ha-Zohar. It is the fundamental scripture of Jewish mysticism, Kabbalah. It was compiled by Moses de Leon (1250-1305), who was active in Spain in the 13th century. The title means "Book of Splendor." It is centered on Kabbalistic interpretations of the first five books of the Old Testament (the Pentateuch, Torah), the Book of Ruth, the Song of Songs, and the Lamentations of Jeremiah, which are attributed to the 2nd century mystic Simeon ben Yoḥai and his disciples.
