...A river in the western part of Tokushima Prefecture. A tributary of the Yoshino River, its source is west of Mount Tsurugi, and it forms a vertical valley up to Nishi-Iyayama Village, Zentoku, and for about 20 km from Zentoku it forms a V-shaped gorge (Iya Valley), which merges with the Matsuo River at Dejo, and then becomes the main stream of the Yoshino River at Otari. It has a total length of 54 km, and a drainage area of about 280 km2. *Some of the terminology that refers to "Iya Hot Springs" is listed below.
