In his book Introduction to Practical Perspective (1800), Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes (1750-1815) not only analyzed outdoor natural conditions of all seasons, times, and light, but also left behind oil sketches in which he himself captured clouds and the mist covering the mountains in a very short time.
