...During the 1960s, amid the free development of speech and political activity, political ideologies became more diverse, and especially toward the end of the decade, far-right and far-left political and social movements began to attract attention. One of the far-right movements was the Nationalist Movement Party (founded in February 1969) led by Alparslan Türkeş (a young officer who participated in the 1960 coup and was later expelled from the army), which advocated ultranationalist pan-Turkish (Turanist) principles, calling for the salvation of and solidarity with the Turkic peoples of Central Asia.
