〘名〙① 他郷または他家に、一時的に身を寄せること。かりずまい。寓宿。仮寓。※新聞雑誌‐一八号・明治四年(1871)一〇月「今秋中東京府下寄留(キリウ)の人員官(かみ)より御調べ有しに」② 旧制で、九〇日以上、本籍地以外の一定の場所に住所、または居所をもつこと。昭和二七年(一九五二)に廃止された寄留法にもとづくもので、現在では住民登録制度になった。※内務省令第二二号‐明治一九年(1886)一〇月一六日「他府県又は他郡市区他町村より寄留したるの届出あるときは入寄留簿に登記すべし」
