al-Nil al-Abyaḍ (English spelling)

…In Arabic, it is called Nil al-Nīl. Immediately after it leaves Lake Victoria in Uganda, the Victoria Nile passes through the great swamps of southern Sudan and merges into the White Nile, al-Nīl al-Abyaḍ. The Blue Nile, al-Nīl al-Azraq, originates from Lake Tana in Ethiopia, and merges with the White Nile in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, to form the mainstream Nile, which flows northward.
