Analgesic-antipyretic drugs, also known as fever reducers, are a group of drugs that have both antipyretic and analgesic effects. There are various chemical compounds, but historically the drug that has been used for the longest time is the bark of the cinchona tree, a South American plant that was introduced to Europe in the 17th century. Cinchona bark is a herbal medicine that contains quinine, a compound belonging to the alkaloids, as its active ingredient. On the other hand, willow bark, which contains salicin, a glycoside of salicyl alcohol, is also a historical antipyretic and analgesic drug that has been used all over the world since ancient times.
