〘Noun〙 A border made of brocade . Also, tatami mats and rugs made with this border. The finest quality tatami mats and rugs were originally used exclusively for the Emperor, and later for seating for retired emperors, Crown Princes, princes, and regents, as well as for the inner sanctuaries of shrines.
