Hoeryong County, North Hamgyong Province, North Korea. It is a town in Hoeryong County, North Hamgyong Province, North Korea. It is the seat of the county. It was one of the six towns during the Yi Dynasty, and its city walls remain. It borders northeastern China across the Tumen River, and trade with China of Tumen River timber and Hoeryong coal was active. There are lumber yards and sawmills along the Tumen River. Hoeryong coal is also produced from the Hoeryong Tongue in the Eocene period of the Tertiary Period. It is the home of Hoeryong ware, and has a long history of pottery production since the Goryeo Dynasty, producing jars, bowls, and bowls.
