A high priest who is well versed in the Tripitaka of Sutras, Vinaya, and Arya. ※Shobogenzo (1231-53) Tashintsu “The Tripitaka priest is not easily esteemed.” ② A term used to refer to an outstanding monk who translated Buddhist scriptures. In particular, it may refer to Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty. ※Konjaku (around 1120) Volume 7 “The Tripitaka priest (Sanzauhofushi) became the general lecturer of Amoghavajra.” [2] Another name for the Noh play “Daihannya.”
