Neutral fat - chuuseishibou (English spelling)

It is a general term for lipids in which three molecules of fatty acids (triglyceride), two molecules (diglyceride), or one molecule (monoglyceride) are bound to glycerol, but 90-95% of serum lipids are triglycerides, and this is what is often referred to as neutral lipids. It is the most widely distributed fatty acid derivative found in nature, and is also called simple lipids or neutral lipids.

Fats are used to transport and store energy in the body, and as subcutaneous fat to keep warm and protect the body. The fats consumed in the diet are mainly triglycerides, about 50 to 100 grams per day. In addition, serum triglycerides are usually around 100 milligrams per deciliter, but in people with lipid metabolism disorders, they can reach 3,000 to 5,000 milligrams. The range of variation is significantly larger than that of other lipids. Because of the large diurnal variation and dietary influences, blood is usually taken early in the morning when fasting (12 to 14 hours after a meal). The normal value in blood tests is 30 to 135 milligrams per deciliter, but it is greatly influenced by the living environment and there is a large individual difference. In general, it is higher in large cities than in rural areas, and is higher in men than women. It increases with age, and decreases from around the age of 60. In pregnant women, it increases with the number of months of pregnancy and decreases after childbirth.

グリセロールに脂肪酸が3分子（トリグリセリド）および2分子（ジグリセリド）、1分子（モノグリセリド）それぞれ結合しているものの総称であるが、血清中では90～95％がトリグリセリドであり、中性脂肪といえばこれをさす場合が多い。自然界にみいだされる脂肪酸誘導体のなかで分布がもっとも広く、単純脂質または中性脂質neutral lipidともよばれる。

　生体におけるエネルギーの運搬と貯蔵、皮下脂肪として保温や生体の保護に役だっており、食事として摂取される脂肪は主として中性脂肪で、1日約50～100グラムである。また、血清中の中性脂肪は普通1デシリットル当り100ミリグラム前後であるが、脂質代謝異常者では3000～5000ミリグラムに達することもある。その変動域はほかの脂質に比べて著しく大きい。日内変動や食事による影響が大きいため、採血は通常、早朝空腹時（食後12～14時間）に行う。血液検査における正常値は1デシリットル当り30～135ミリグラムとなっているが、生活環境の影響が大きく、個人差も大きい。一般に農村などに比べて大都市では高く、女性より男性のほうが高い。加齢とともに上昇し、60歳前後から下降する。また妊婦では、妊娠月数とともに高くなり、分娩(ぶんべん)後に下降する。
