Hoeryeong-dong Historic Site - Hoeryeong-dong Historic Site (English)

Japanese: 会寧五洞遺跡 - かいねいごどういせき（英語表記）Hoeryŏngodong‐yujŏk

Located in O-dong, Hoeryong-eup, Hoeryong-gun, North Hamgyong-do, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, this is a representative settlement site in the northeastern region of the Korean Peninsula from the Plain Pottery (Bronze Age) period. It is located on an alluvial plateau on the right bank of the middle reaches of the Tumen River and covers tens of thousands of square meters, of which 400 square meters were excavated in 1954 and 1955. As a result, the remains of eight dwellings and a workshop that appears to be a stone tool manufacturing plant were discovered, and over 5,000 artifacts were collected, including plain pottery, numerous polished stone tools, and a small number of chipped stone tools. The remains of the dwellings are pit-type dwellings with a rectangular or square plan, and have four rows of postholes along the long axis.

朝鮮民主主義人民共和国咸鏡北道会寧郡会寧邑五洞にあって，無文土器(青銅器)時代における朝鮮半島東北地方の代表的集落遺跡。豆満江中流域右岸の沖積台地に立地し，数万m2にわたるが，そのうち400m2が，1954年と55年に発掘調査された。その結果，住居跡8基と，石器製作所と思われる作業場が検出され，無文土器をはじめ，多数の磨製石器と少量の打製石器を含む5000余点の遺物が採集された。住居跡は長方形もしくは方形の平面形をもつ竪穴式で，長軸の方向に4列ずつの柱穴群を備えている。
