Linkage

Japanese: linkage
Linkage

...such groups of genes on the same chromosome do not follow the law of independent inheritance mentioned above, but tend to be passed on together to offspring. This phenomenon is called linkage. One chromosome in corn carries the genes that control seedling color (green and white), leaf luster (matte and glossy), and fertility (normal and partially sterile). ...

From [Genetic Recombination]

...Based on this, Mendel's law of independent segregation was proposed.
[Linkage]
A.H. Sturtevant (1913) was the first to discover an exception to the law of independent segregation and to introduce the concept of linkage. This phenomenon occurs when multiple genes are passed from parent to child (or from individual to individual) as a set, without following the law of independent segregation. The degree of linkage varies depending on the combination of genes, but usually does not exceed 50%.
