A town in Kawachi County in southern Tochigi Prefecture. It occupies the flat land on the west bank of the midstream Kinu River, with wide open rice paddies. It produces rice, vegetables, and strawberries, and is a specialty of kanpyo (dried gourd). Industries such as automobile and home appliance manufacturing are also thriving. The ruins of Kamisukawa Castle, owned by the Utsunomiya clan, are located here. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 54.39 km2 . Population: 31,621 (2010).
