A former town in Chiisagata County, south of Ueda City, in central Nagano Prefecture. The main settlement developed as a village at the mouth of the Yoda River, a tributary of the Chikuma River, and became known as a silk-reeling area after the Meiji period. Industries of machine parts, metals, and electronics are carried out here. Uchimura Onsen is located to the west. In March 2006, it was incorporated into Ueda City along with Sanada Town and Takeshi Village in Chiisagata County. 105.70 km2 . Population 24,577 (2003). 長野県中部，上田市南部の小県(ちいさがた)郡の旧町。主集落は千曲川の支流依田川の渓口集落として発達，明治以後製糸業地として知られた。機械部品，金属，電子工業が行われる。西に内村温泉郷がある。2006年３月小県郡真田町，武石村と上田市へ編入。105.70km2。２万4577人（2003）。
