Order Clupeidae, family Ophiopogonidae. Reaches a total length of 1m. Body is laterally compressed and slender. Mouth is large, with sharp teeth on jaws. Found in warm waters of southern Japan, the Pacific Ocean, and the Indian Ocean. One of the largest species in the Clupeidae order.
