...Because of its beautiful flowers, many species have been introduced into Europe, but it has not become very popular as a garden plant. The Loasaceae, which is represented by this genus, is a small family of about 15 genera and 250 species, most of which are distributed in the Andes mountain range of the Americas, with one species found in South Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It is considered to be closely related to the Begoniaceae family. ...
