Pointillism

Japanese: 点描主義 - てんびょうしゅぎ
Pointillism
A painting technique that uses short, dot-like strokes. A translation of the French word pointillisme. Neo-Impressionist painters did not mix paint on the palette, but instead applied it directly to the canvas, aiming for a visual mix, so it is also used as an alternative name for Neo-Impressionism.
