Nanigo (English spelling)

...The rituals have become more mystical and anti-white, and are commonly found in the ecstasy and magic of the African possession phenomenon, as well as the Christian eschatology and comfort in the sense of being possessed by the Holy Spirit. Voodoo, which is popular in Haiti, is also a ritual group that follows this tradition, and in Cuba there is a mystical group called Ñanigo, in which African gods are possessed through wild singing and dancing, and which has become complicated by assimilating with the Voodoo gods. Black religions in Brazil also have the same tendency, but Umbanda, which has its headquarters in São Paulo, has infiltrated the urban middle class since the 1960s, and has gained white followers, diluting its anti-white character.
