Hyper inflation

Japanese: ハイパー･インフレーション（英語表記）hyper inflation

This refers to a state in which prices rise so rapidly that they rise by several tens of percent in a month for a certain period of time. It is translated as hyperinflation. The best-known example is Germany after World War I, but there are other examples that occurred around the same time in Austria, Hungary, the Soviet Union, and Greece, Hungary, and China after World War II. It can also include Japan after World War II.

Such runaway inflation is not thought to have occurred in peacetime before; it has occurred in conjunction with wars and revolutions.

物価上昇の勢いが激しく，1ヵ月間に数十％もの上昇が一定期間続く状態をいう。超インフレーションと訳される。第1次世界大戦後のドイツの例が最もよく知られているが，ほかにもほぼ同じころ起こったオーストリア，ハンガリー，ソ連などの例や，第2次大戦後のギリシア，ハンガリー，中国の例をあげることができる。また第2次大戦後の日本を含めることもある。
