1463‐94 Along with Ficino, he was one of the leading Platonists of Renaissance Italy. Born as the youngest son of the lord of Mirandola Castle, he studied at the universities of Bologna and Padua, but was drawn to Ficino and became interested in philosophy. He also mastered Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Arabic, and was praised for his genius for erudition. He resonated with Ficino's "eternal philosophy" and advocated a "philosophical peace" that attempted to reconcile the conflicts of the real world through the awareness of the identity that exists beneath it all.
