Nicaragua rosewood (English spelling)

(English name cocobolo, Nicaragua rosewood) from Central America to northern South America is used for the handles of table knives and spoons. The heartwood of D. melanoxylon Guill.et Perr. (English name African blackwood, Senegal ebony) from East Africa is jet black and resembles ebony, and is used specially for clarinets.
