Tin - Tin

Japanese: スズ(錫) - すず
Tin - Tin
The atomic symbol is Sn. The atomic number is 50, the atomic weight is 118.710. The melting point is 231.928℃, and the boiling point is 2603℃. It is one of the metal elements that has been used since ancient times as bronze. There are three allotropes of tin: gray tin (α-tin, cubic crystal system), white tin (β-tin, tetragonal crystal system), and γ-tin (orthorhombic crystal system). White tin is the most commonly found at room temperature. It is stable in air and highly malleable. It is soluble in acid and hot caustic alkali solutions. The main ore is cassiterite. The ore is dressed to a grade of 60-70%, which is then smelted by dry reduction to produce crude tin, which is then electrolytically refined to a grade of 99.98% or more. Tin plating (mainly tinplate) has a wide range of uses. Tin alloys include bronze, gunmetal, solder, bearing alloys, type alloys, and various fusible alloys.
