Oklahoma!

…American composer who wrote many classic musicals. Influenced by his music-loving parents, he wrote his first song at the age of 14, and collaborated on a series of musicals with lyricist Lorenz Hart (1895-1943), whom he met while at Columbia University, starting with Garrick Gaieties in 1925. These included famous songs such as My Funny Valentine. In 1943, he formed a new partnership with lyricist Oscar Hammerstein, and wrote timeless masterpieces such as Oklahoma! (1943), South Pacific (1949), and The Sound of Music (1959). …
