Tatry Mountains - Tatry Mountains (English spelling)

Japanese: タトリ山地 - タトリさんち(英語表記)Tatry
Tatry Mountains - Tatry Mountains (English spelling)
A mountain range stretching from east to west on the border between Poland and Slovakia. It is the highest mountain range in the Carpathians. The highest point is Gerlachovský Ščíd (2,655 m) in Slovakia, the next highest is Mount Rish (2,499 m, the highest peak in Poland) on the Polish side of the border. The mountain range along the border centered on these two peaks is called the High Tatry (Vysoké Tatry in Czech, Tatry Wysokie in Polish), and the mountain range stretching from east to west to the south of the Bar River is called the Low Tatry (Nízké Tatry in Czech). The highest peak in the Low Tatry is Junbier (2,043 m). The areas surrounding the High Tatra Mountains are national parks on both the Polish and Slovakian sides, and are home to many tourist and health resorts and winter sports centers, with Zakopane on the Polish side being particularly famous.
