Petar II

…Born in Montenegro. In 1830, he succeeded his uncle as Bishop Vladica (the head of the secular and religious world of Montenegro) (he was called Petar II) and devoted himself to modernization, including the introduction of the separation of powers. He began writing poetry at a young age, and broadened his horizons during two trips to Russia. In his work The Light of the Microcosm (1845), he expressed the sadness of people who had been banished from heaven, and in his masterpiece, the epic poem Mountains of Glory (1847), he sang with unparalleled grandeur the liberation of the nation and the preciousness of freedom. …
