A school of tea ceremony. Its founder was Sen no Rikyu, and it boasts the orthodoxy of the Sen family. In the early Edo period, the name Omotesenke arose after Sen Soza, the third son of Rikyu's grandson Sen Sotan, inherited the teahouse Fushin'an that Rikyu had built. This is because Soza lived in the front of the traditional house. Since then, successive heads of the family have taken the name Soza, and the current head is the 14th generation (1938-). →Urasenke school→Related articles Edo Senke school | Three Sen schools | Sen school | Fushin'an Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
