A former town occupying the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula in Atsumi County, Aichi Prefecture. Fukue, the center facing Mikawa Bay, developed as a commercial center for the region. Due to the warm climate, greenhouse cultivation of melons, tomatoes, illuminated chrysanthemums, and other vegetables and flowers is popular. The coastal areas, including Cape Irago, belong to the Mikawa Bay Quasi-National Park. Incorporated into Tahara City in October 2005. 82.16 km2 . Population: 22,578 (2003).
