A former town occupying the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula in Atsumi County, Aichi Prefecture. Fukue, the center facing Mikawa Bay, developed as a commercial center for the region. Due to the warm climate, greenhouse cultivation of melons, tomatoes, illuminated chrysanthemums, and other vegetables and flowers is popular. The coastal areas, including Cape Irago, belong to the Mikawa Bay Quasi-National Park. Incorporated into Tahara City in October 2005. 82.16 km2 . Population: 22,578 (2003). 愛知県渥美郡,渥美半島先端部を占める旧町。三河湾に面する中心の福江は地域の商業地として発達。温暖な気候のため,メロン,トマト,電照菊など野菜・花卉(かき)の温室栽培が盛ん。伊良湖岬(いらござき)など海岸部は三河湾国定公園に属する。2005年10月田原市へ編入。82.16km2。2万2578人(2003)。
