Obuse [town] - Obuse
A town in Kamitakai district located in the eastern part of the Nagano Basin in northern Nagano Prefecture. The center is the Matsukawa valley settlement, and the Nagano Electric Railway runs through it. Obuse is the birthplace of chestnut yokan (a sweet bean paste made with chestnuts and chestnuts), and also produces apples, grapes, and vegetables. Industries include food processing and plastics. Area: 19.12 km2 . Population: 11,072 (2010).
