The larvae of the grapevine moth, which belongs to the family Sesiidae, order Lepidoptera, class Insecta. They are known as pests of grapes, and when the larvae enter thin branches, the branches swell and become gall-like. They are pruned along with the branches in winter and sold commercially as fishing bait.
