Minamoto no Yoshihiro

Japanese: 源義広 - みなもとのよしひろ

?-1184 A military commander in the late Heian period.
The third son of Minamoto Tameyoshi. His base was in Shinda-go, Hitachi (Ibaraki Prefecture). He was in conflict with Minamoto no Yoritomo, and in 1183 he raised an army together with Ashikaga Tadatsuna, but was defeated in a surprise attack by Oyama Tomomasa. After that, he sought refuge with Minamoto no Yoshinaka, and after Yoshinaka's defeat and death, he fled to Ise (Mie Prefecture), where he was killed in battle on May 4, 1211. His original name was Yoshinori (Nori). He was commonly known as Shida Saburo Sensei.

源為義の3男。本拠は常陸(ひたち)(茨城県)信太(しだ)郷。源頼朝と対立し,寿永2年(1183)足利忠綱とともに挙兵したが小山朝政(おやま-ともまさ)の奇襲に敗れた。以後源義仲をたより,義仲の敗死で伊勢(いせ)(三重県)にのがれ元暦(げんりゃく)元年5月4日討ち死に。初名は義範(憲)。通称は志田三郎先生(せんじょう)。
