Italian poet. Along with Corazzini, he is one of the leading poets of the Twilight School. He began writing poetry while studying at the University of Turin, and published "The Way to the Retreat" (1907), a delicate work that explores themes such as awakened dreams, unrequited love, recollections of the past, and satire of reality. While recuperating from a lung disease, he composed his masterpiece "Dialogues" (1911), which incorporates a skillful dialogue format, while facing the anxiety of approaching death. Other works he produced include "To the Cradle of the World" (1917), which describes his impressions of a trip to India, and "The Last Footsteps" (1919), a beautiful collection of children's stories. In his later years, he also produced films. [Kouhei Kawana] Source: Shogakukan Encyclopedia Nipponica About Encyclopedia Nipponica Information | Legend |
