A town in Takaoka County in central Kochi Prefecture. The main settlement is located on a river terrace in the middle reaches of the Niyodo River, and prospered through shipping. In addition to rice cultivation, the town also produces tea, green peppers, shishito peppers, ginger, and other crops. It also produces sewing and concrete blocks. Area: 111.95 km2 .
