A general term for metal salt minerals containing the tungstic acid group WO 4 2- (tetrahedral structure). Examples include scheelite with calcium and wolframite with iron and manganese. Most are translucent and have a relatively high specific gravity. They occur in pegmatites, pneumatolytic deposits, and contact metasomatic deposits.
