Very large scale integration : An integrated circuit with a density of more than 100,000 semiconductor elements per chip. An LSI with a higher density than the LSI. Ultra-large scale integration.
[Additional information] From the 1970s through the 1990s, with improvements in integration technology, LSIs with integration densities of 1,000 to 100,000 components, VLSIs with integration densities of 100,000 to 10 million components, and ULSIs with integration densities of over 10 million components appeared, and a distinction was made between these. However, since the 2000s, such distinctions have ceased and integrated circuits in general are often referred to as LSIs or ICs.

[補説]1970年代以降1990年代に至るまで、集積化技術の向上にともない、集積度が1000～10万個程度のLSI、10万～1000万個程度のVLSI、1000万個を越えたULSIが登場し、それぞれを区別したが、2000年代になってからはこのような区別をせず、集積回路全般をLSIまたはICと呼称することが多い。
