Year of birth: Year of birth and death unknown. A monk from the Asuka period. He is said to have come from Eman's family in Yamashiro (Kyoto). He may have been a monk studying abroad in Goguryeo, as he appears to be a "student of Korean descent." He is also said to have traveled to China and studied the Three Treatises under Kiszo. In August of the 1st year of the Taika era (645), he was selected as one of the Ten Masters. According to the Ujibashi Danpei monument and Nihon Ryōiki, in the same year, he built the Uji Bridge in Yamashiro.
