A town in Iruma County in central Saitama Prefecture, at the eastern foot of the Chichibu Mountains. Ogose, the town in the center, has been a market town since the Middle Ages, and flourished as a silk market during the Meiji and Taisho periods. The town is served by the Hachiko Line and the Tobu Railway Ogose Line. Yuzu and plum trees are local specialties, and the town also produces cedar, cypress and other timber, making the lumber and joinery industries thriving.
