…Both dynasties were limited to the central Myanmar area along the Irrawaddy River, but in the north, tribes such as the Mao Shan and Mornyin Shan ruled, while in the south, the Mon Hantawaddy dynasty had a stable influence. When the Pingya and Sagaing royal families repeatedly assassinated each other and finally collapsed due to interference from the Mao Shan, Thadominbya, a descendant of the Sagaing royal family, gathered the dispersed Shan forces and built a royal palace at the confluence of the Mitgay and Irrawaddy rivers in 64. This was the elegant name of Ratanapura, and Aba (Awa), which was known abroad as a synonym for Myanmar until the late 19th century. …
