School physician

A doctor who provides technical and instructional skills on specialized matters related to health management at schools. Article 23 of the School Health and Safety Act requires schools to have a doctor. They are often part-time. Specific duties include: (1) Participating in the planning of school health plans and school safety plans. (2) Providing guidance and advice on maintaining and improving the school environment and hygiene. (3) Health consultations. (4) Health guidance. (5) Regular and special health checkups for students. (6) Preventive measures against diseases. (7) Guidance and advice on preventing infectious diseases, and preventive measures against infectious diseases and food poisoning (→School infectious diseases). (8) Emergency treatment at the request of the principal (→First aid). (9) Health checkups at the time of enrollment and health checkups for staff at the request of the city or town board of education and the school founder. (10) Guidance on specialized matters related to health management at schools other than those mentioned above (Enforcement Regulations of the School Health and Safety Act, 22).
